Philosophy Of Education

Because we are made in the image of an all-knowing God, we have the capability of advanced learning and the ability to grow in knowledge and intelligence. This shows that education is only possible because the Christian worldview is correct. Others often borrow education from a biblical worldview but then deviate and lose the very foundation for education. Thus, the philosophy of a biblical-worldview education is rooted in the conviction that God is the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient Creator. All things exist by the Word of His power and are sustained by Him (Colossians 1:17). We cannot make sense of the universe without God!

A biblical-worldview education is predicated on the revealed Word of Christ (John 1; Colossians 1; Hebrews 1). An education that fails to acknowledge God and His work is resting on the fallible authority of man, which is ultimately meaningless. All the treasures of knowledge and wisdom are hidden in Christ (Colossians 2:3).

An education that stands on the authority of the 66 books of the Bible as the absolute standard recognizes the student as having been made in the image of God and having eternal value. Partnering with parents, Christian Worldview Academy's philosophy is to help train students in the admonition of the Lord by teaching them that the Bible is authoritative in all matters. In doing so, we hope to give glory to God as we teach students to start their thinking with God’s Word in every academic subject. By teaching students to seek first the kingdom of God, their works should be as unto the Lord and not to man.

Unique class model

Christian Worldview Academy is a unique School experience. Unlike the traditional classroom model (whether secular, public schools or Christian schools) where core classes (English, math, science, social studies, etc) are taught 5 days a week with specials incorporated throughout the week. Our classes will consist of 3 days of core classes, one day of specials, arts, PE, music etc. and one day of extra specials which are our life skills classes.

CWA believe strongly that most children are able and capable of learning core material with less repetition then utilized in public school and charter school setting. We see proof of this in the homeschool environment where students are able to retain information in less time. We believe this is due to the ability of parents to be able to work more closely with their individual children. We find this concept to hold true whether or not a parent is working with one or two children or 6 to 8 children. Because of this our intent is to keep our class sizes very small so that our teachers are able to focus on the group as a whole while giving special attention to the individual student without taking away from the needs of the classroom. Our average class size will be no more than 10 to 12 students per teacher.

Our week will be designed to encourage students using what we call the "Work and reward principal". We see this principal modeled throughout scripture. (Col. 3:23-24, Rom. 2:6, Gal. 6:9, James 1:12, Phil. 3:142 Tim. 4:7-8). Our students will be encouraged to work the majority of their Core classes at the beginning of the week with a break from the core classes to explorer there creative nature with art, music, library, PE in the middle of their week. One more day of core classes on Thursday then fun life skills training to wrap up their week. Our life skills classes are a wonderful mix of fun and learning where are students get to learn new skills that will serve them in the future as they learn to take care of themselves and their families. Some of these classes will include cooking and baking, woodworking, sewing and fishing, budgeting and money management and more. Many of these classes will get out students out of the classroom setting and outdoors. These classes are designed to prepare our students for life outside their parents' homes. They are meant to help our students launch into the world successfully.

At CWA we believe that fresh air, sunlight and rigorous play are gifts from God. They help clear away the cobwebs of the mind and help children learn. Children are not created to sit in rows for 6 hours a day staring at a bord or screens. They are made to move, discover and find adventure. Our school week will give them all of that.  To see an example of our weekly schedule click here.

Partnering with the Family

Ephesians 6:4 states, "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 states, "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."

These verses show that it is the responsibility of the parents to seek to provide a God-centered and Christ-honoring education for their children. Our school exists to assist parents in providing this type of education. We see ourselves as an extension of parents to provide an education in agreement with our statement of faith. We count it a privilege to be able to partner with parents to train kids both academically and spiritually during the time that we have them. Because the responsibility for educating children is given to the parents, Christian Worldview Academy will be an instrument to assist dedicated parents in teaching their students biblically, academically, morally, spiritually, and relationally.

It is not the school's place to be the primary training center for these children though. The school is to never take the place of home teaching and training. Children need the instruction and example by parents in the home as a foundation on which the school and church may build upon.

The family, church, and school should all have the same goal..."until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ" (Ephesians 4:13-15).
